Heather, Saving Grace
Today, Day 16, will be marked as a turning point, a tipping point, really, in the integration of Gracie into our family. The attached Status Report provides all the details, good, bad and ugly-- INSERT. but summarizing today's key "tipping events": https://docs.google.com/document/d/1dJeqKODzk4POp7cCt3IbFQ1UDyV5_oznMKNcupO9ZLk/edit 1) SHE WILL BE A RETRIEVER. She retrieves the ball thrown at a distance in an enclosed tennis court, for a treat. AND she brings back kicked ball
Grace Notes 2
Day 18, Training w Heather begun. Some success with potty training outside-- two (large) poops, two pees in one morning. Dog training successes might not seem a big deal to you, but just try to civilize a 50 lb puppy! Busy morning, two training sessions outside, leash and offleash. Still pulls uncontrollably when on scent-- doesn't even know I'm back there. But responsive and much improved otherwise. Off leash on tennis court at dawn, excellent experience in every respect-- h
Grace Notes, 1
Tuesday, Day 11. I've learned a whole lot, quickly. WE have learned a lot, and I mean Alexis and Grace as well. Grace came with a lot of bad habits, and not many good ones. A. and I moved fast to rearrange some rooms and block others off, open the garage and set up for Gracie to inhabit as she will. She also has access to downstairs for active play, and living/dining room for napping and chewing kongs and bully sticks. Our two immediate priorities are leash training and pott
Touched by Grace
I was touched by Grace when I saw that one, first picture. I'll post it. She had an expression that made me laugh out loud, and then my heart melted. That was it. I was in love. It was a straight-on head shot. She had her head cocked quizzically, her brow knitted as if to say "Where am I? And who are you?" This is Day 4, and I haven't seen that look again. So I assumed she was a Lab-Hound mix, as indeed she is. But she has the body type of a Whippet, a small dainty Greyhound
Meet Grace and Stewart
Meet my friends, Grace and Stewart. Old friends, very old. I’ve only recently rediscovered them.. and now they are a couple, a pair! And what a pair! How two such different beings could be joined at the hip is beyond me.. beyond my pay grade, as it were. Grace, the old soul, is dazzling as ever. In fact, I find her vibe blinding bright, so I mostly admire her from a distance. She was born somewhere else, and her English is hard to understand. Stewart, on the other hand, acts
Grace and Beauty
Hi, it's Melissa. I dropped by bl's studio the other day to see the "Elastics" series he and John did. The six faces composed of rubber bands look even better framed and on the wall. On another wall, he had this piece, which he calls "Grace and Beauty". As you approach it, you see translucent plastic faces on two blocks of color, pink and green. The faces are glued on foam, and mounted on board. Nothing fancy.. no adornment.. Why "Grace and Beauty?" Is that supposed to be "G
